We despatch across India by courier and by surface freight. This policy explains how orders are packed, when they leave us, how freight is charged and what to do if a consignment arrives damaged or short.
Dispatch times
Orders for seed held in stock are normally despatched within a few working days of payment being confirmed.
Species collected to order, and bulk consignments scheduled around a planting window, are despatched on a date agreed with you in writing at the time of confirmation.
Demand peaks ahead of the monsoon. During that period we confirm a realistic despatch date with you before taking payment rather than promising a date we cannot meet.
Carriers and transit
Smaller consignments are sent by courier. Larger and heavier consignments are sent by surface freight or through a transport operator.
Transit time depends on the destination and the carrier. We share the carrier name and tracking or consignment details when your order leaves us.
Freight charges
Freight is charged at actuals and depends on weight, volume and destination. It is quoted on your proforma invoice before payment, so nothing is added after despatch.
For bulk consignments we will tell you whether the quotation is ex-works or delivered, so the basis of the price is clear.
Packaging
Seed is packed in moisture-appropriate packaging suited to the species and the transit time, labelled with the species, lot reference and net weight.
Species that must travel fresh are packed and scheduled to minimise time in transit.
Delivery areas and restrictions
We deliver across India. Some remote destinations have longer transit times or limited carrier coverage, which we confirm when quoting.
Movement of certain plant material may be subject to state or national plant quarantine requirements. Where a permit or certificate is required for your destination, tell us at the time of enquiry so we can confirm what we can supply and what documentation you will need to arrange.
Damage, shortage and claims
Please inspect the consignment at the time of delivery. If the packaging is damaged or the weight is short, record it on the carrier's delivery document before signing.
Photograph the consignment as received, before unpacking further, and contact us within 7 days of delivery with your invoice number and the photographs.
We will pursue the claim with the carrier and, where the loss is confirmed, replace the affected quantity or credit it. Replacement consignments are sent at our cost where the claim is upheld.
Failed or refused delivery
If a consignment cannot be delivered because the address or contact details given were incorrect, or delivery is refused, any re-despatch or return freight is chargeable.
